Beef Gyro with Tzatziki Sauce
A delicious Greek dish, featuring tender beef strips wrapped in a warm pita and topped with homemade tzatziki sauce.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Fresh dill - 1 tablespoon, chopped
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Cucumber - 1, grated and drained
- Greek yogurt - 1 cup
- For tzatziki sauce -
- Feta cheese - 1/2 cup, crumbled
- Lettuce - 1 cup, shredded
- Cucumbers - 2, sliced
- Tomatoes - 2, sliced
- Red onion - 1, thinly sliced
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Pita bread - 4 pieces
- Beef strips - 500 grams
Let's Get Started
- Heat the olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the beef strips and cook until browned. Remove from the pan and set aside.
- In the same pan, add the garlic and red onion and cook until softened.
- To make the tzatziki sauce, combine the Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, garlic, lemon juice, fresh dill, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Stir until well combined.
- To assemble the gyros, spread a generous amount of tzatziki sauce on each pita bread. Top with the cooked beef strips, sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, shredded lettuce, and crumbled feta cheese.
- Fold the pita bread over the fillings and serve the beef gyros with extra tzatziki sauce on the side.
