Let's Get Started

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. Arrange half of the bread slices in the prepared baking dish.
  3. Layer half of the sliced bananas over the bread.
  4. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and brown sugar.
  5. Pour half of the egg mixture over the bread and bananas in the baking dish.
  6. Repeat the layers with the remaining bread, bananas, and egg mixture.
  7. Drizzle the melted butter over the top of the casserole.
  8. Cover the baking dish with foil and let it sit for 15 minutes to allow the bread to soak up the custard.
  9. Bake the casserole for 30 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set.
  10. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
  11. Serve warm with maple syrup drizzled on top.
