Tom Yum Goong

Tom Yum Goong is a classic Thai soup known for its distinct hot and sour flavors, fragrant spices and herbs.

Ingredients

  • Cilantro - 1/4 cup, chopped
  • Mushrooms - 1 cup, sliced
  • Shrimp - 1 pound, peeled and deveined
  • Sugar - 1 teaspoon
  • Lime juice - 3 tablespoons
  • Fish sauce - 3 tablespoons
  • Thai bird chilies - 5
  • Galangal - 1 inch piece, sliced
  • Kaffir lime leaves - 4
  • Lemongrass - 2 stalks, smashed
  • Water - 4 cups

Instructions

  1. In a pot, bring water to a boil.
  2. Add lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, galangal, and chilies. Boil for 10 minutes.
  3. Add fish sauce, lime juice, and sugar. Stir well.
  4. Add shrimp and mushrooms. Cook until shrimp turns pink.
  5. Turn off the heat and add cilantro.
  6. Serve hot.
