Tirk Phtoong

Tirk Phtoong is a traditional Cambodian stir-fried beef dish with vegetables.

Ingredients

  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Sugar - 1 teaspoon
  • Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Oyster sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
  • Broccoli - 1 cup, florets
  • Carrot - 1, julienned
  • Bell pepper - 1, sliced
  • Onion - 1 large, sliced
  • Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
  • Beef - 500 grams, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, marinate the beef with soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, sugar, and black pepper for 10 minutes.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat.
  3. Add minced garlic and stir-fry for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned.
  5. Add sliced onion, bell pepper, carrot, and broccoli. Stir-fry for another 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
  6. Adjust the seasoning with soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, sugar, and black pepper according to taste.
  7. Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.
