Somali Chai Coffee

Somali Chai Coffee is a traditional Somali spiced tea made with black tea, milk, and aromatic spices.

Ingredients

  • Sugar - 2 tablespoons
  • Ginger - 1-inch piece, grated
  • Cloves - 4
  • Cinnamon stick - 1
  • Cardamom pods - 4
  • Milk - 1 cup
  • Water - 2 cups
  • Black tea - 2 teaspoons

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, bring water to a boil.
  2. Add the black tea, cardamom pods, cinnamon stick, cloves, and grated ginger to the boiling water.
  3. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes to infuse the flavors.
  4. Add the milk and sugar to the saucepan and stir well.
  5. Simmer for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Strain the chai coffee into cups or mugs.
  7. Serve hot and enjoy!
