Masala Chai

A traditional Indian beverage made with black tea, milk, sugar, and a blend of aromatic spices.

Ingredients

  • Ginger - 1 inch piece, grated
  • Cinnamon stick - 1
  • Cloves - 4
  • Cardamom pods - 4
  • Sugar - 4 tablespoons
  • Milk - 2 cups
  • Black tea leaves - 2 tablespoons
  • Water - 2 cups

Instructions

  1. In a pot, bring water to a boil.
  2. Add the tea leaves, cardamom pods, cloves, cinnamon stick, and grated ginger to the boiling water.
  3. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. Add the milk and sugar to the pot and stir well.
  5. Bring the mixture to a boil again, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for another 5 minutes.
  6. Strain the tea into cups and serve hot.
