Indian Masala Chai

A traditional Indian spiced tea made with a blend of aromatic spices and black tea.

Ingredients

  • Sugar - 2 teaspoons
  • Black peppercorns - 4
  • Cloves - 4
  • Cinnamon stick - 1
  • Cardamom pods - 4, crushed
  • Ginger - 1-inch piece, grated
  • Black tea leaves - 2 teaspoons
  • Milk - 1 cup
  • Water - 1 cup

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, bring water to a boil.
  2. Add the grated ginger, crushed cardamom pods, cinnamon stick, cloves, and black peppercorns to the boiling water.
  3. Simmer for 5 minutes to allow the spices to infuse.
  4. Add the black tea leaves and simmer for another 2 minutes.
  5. Add milk and sugar to the saucepan and bring to a boil.
  6. Reduce the heat and simmer for 1-2 minutes.
  7. Strain the chai into cups and serve hot.
