Som Tum

Som Tum is a refreshing and spicy Thai salad made with green papaya, tomatoes, peanuts, and a tangy dressing.

Ingredients

  • Salt - To taste
  • Palm sugar - 1 tablespoon, grated
  • Lime juice - 2 tablespoons
  • Fish sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Thai bird's eye chilies - 2-3, finely chopped
  • Roasted peanuts - 1/4 cup, crushed
  • Green beans - 1/2 cup, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • Cherry tomatoes - 1 cup, halved
  • Green papaya - 1 medium, shredded

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the shredded green papaya, cherry tomatoes, and green beans.
  2. In a mortar and pestle, pound the garlic and Thai chilies together until well combined.
  3. Add the fish sauce, lime juice, palm sugar, and salt to the mortar and pestle. Mix well to create the dressing.
  4. Pour the dressing over the papaya mixture and toss to coat evenly.
  5. Garnish with crushed roasted peanuts.
  6. Serve immediately and enjoy!
