Palak Paneer

Palak Paneer is a popular Indian dish made with spinach and paneer (Indian cottage cheese). It is a flavorful and nutritious vegetarian dish.

Ingredients

  • Fresh cream - 2 tablespoons
  • Oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt - To taste
  • Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Green chili - 1, finely chopped
  • Ginger - 1-inch piece, grated
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Tomato - 2 medium, finely chopped
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Paneer - 200 grams, cubed
  • Spinach - 500 grams

Instructions

  1. Blanch the spinach in boiling water for 2 minutes. Drain and transfer to a bowl of ice water to retain the green color. Drain again and blend into a smooth puree.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Let them splutter.
  3. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  4. Add minced garlic, grated ginger, and chopped green chili. Sauté for a minute.
  5. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft and mushy.
  6. Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well.
  7. Add the spinach puree and cook for 5 minutes.
  8. Add cubed paneer and garam masala. Mix gently and cook for another 5 minutes.
  9. Finally, add fresh cream and mix well. Cook for 2 minutes.
  10. Serve hot with naan or rice.
