Ingredients

  • Fresh orange slices - For serving
  • Maple syrup - For serving
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Poppy seeds - 1 tablespoon
  • Fresh orange zest - 2 tablespoons
  • Milk - 1 cup
  • Egg - 1
  • Granulated sugar - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Baking powder - 2 teaspoons
  • All - purpose flour - 1 1/2 cups

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  2. In a separate bowl, beat the egg and then add the milk, orange zest, and poppy seeds. Mix well.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.
