Nam Tok

Nam Tok is a flavorful Thai salad made with grilled meat, fresh herbs, and a tangy dressing.

Ingredients

  • Toasted rice powder - 1 tablespoon
  • Cilantro - 1/2 cup
  • Mint leaves - 1/2 cup
  • Shallots - 2, thinly sliced
  • Chili flakes - 1 teaspoon
  • Sugar - 1 teaspoon
  • Fish sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Lime juice - 3 tablespoons
  • Beef steak - 500 grams

Instructions

  1. Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  2. Grill the steak to your desired level of doneness, then let it rest for a few minutes.
  3. Slice the steak into thin strips, making sure to capture any juices that run out.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the lime juice, fish sauce, sugar, and chili flakes. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
  5. Add the sliced steak (and its juices) to the bowl, along with the shallots, mint, cilantro, and toasted rice powder.
  6. Toss everything together until well combined.
  7. Serve the salad at room temperature, with extra lime wedges on the side if desired.
