A refreshing and tangy salad made with pomelo, a citrus fruit similar to grapefruit, combined with traditional Burmese ingredients.

Ingredients

  • Sugar - 1 teaspoon
  • Chili flakes - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Lime juice - 2 tablespoons
  • Fish sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Dried shrimp - 2 tablespoons, ground
  • Roasted peanuts - 1/4 cup, crushed
  • Mint leaves - 1/2 cup, chopped
  • Cilantro - 1/2 cup, chopped
  • Red onion - 1 small, thinly sliced
  • Pomelo - 1 large, peeled and segmented

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the pomelo segments, sliced red onion, chopped cilantro, and mint leaves.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the fish sauce, lime juice, garlic oil, chili flakes, and sugar until the sugar is dissolved.
  3. Pour the dressing over the salad and toss gently to combine.
  4. Top the salad with the crushed roasted peanuts and ground dried shrimp before serving.
