Memphis Style Barbecue Sauce

This tangy and flavorful Memphis-style barbecue sauce is perfect for slathering on ribs, pulled pork, or grilled chicken.

Ingredients

  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Cayenne pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Onion powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Chili powder - 1 tablespoon
  • Paprika - 1 tablespoon
  • Worcestershire sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Yellow mustard - 2 tablespoons
  • Brown sugar - 1/4 cup
  • Apple cider vinegar - 1/2 cup
  • Ketchup - 1 cup

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine the ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  3. Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
  4. Remove from heat and let the sauce cool before using.
  5. Store any leftover sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
