Mariscal

Mariscal is a traditional Ecuadorian seafood dish made with shrimp, fish, and a flavorful tomato-based sauce.

Ingredients

  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt and pepper - To taste
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • Lime juice - 2 tablespoons
  • Cilantro - 1/4 cup, chopped
  • Bell pepper - 1, diced
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Tomatoes - 4 large, diced
  • White fish fillets - 1 pound, cut into chunks
  • Shrimp - 1 pound, peeled and deveined

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the onion, garlic, and bell pepper. Cook until the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the tomatoes, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 5 minutes, until the tomatoes start to break down.
  4. Add the shrimp and fish to the skillet. Cook for 8-10 minutes, or until the seafood is cooked through.
  5. Stir in the lime juice and cilantro. Cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  6. Serve the Mariscal hot with rice or crusty bread.
