Maeun Tang

Maeun Tang is a spicy Korean fish stew made with various seafood and vegetables.

Ingredients

  • Red pepper flakes - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - To taste
  • Water - 6 cups
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Gochujang (korean red pepper paste) - 3 tablespoons
  • Ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
  • Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
  • Green onions - 4, chopped
  • Tofu - 1/2 block, cut into cubes
  • Squid - 1/2 lb, cleaned and sliced
  • Mussels - 1/2 lb
  • Clams - 1/2 lb
  • Shrimp - 1/2 lb, peeled and deveined
  • Fish fillets - 1 lb, cut into bite-sized pieces

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat sesame oil over medium heat.
  2. Add garlic, ginger, and green onions. Sauté for 2 minutes.
  3. Add gochujang, soy sauce, and fish sauce. Stir well to combine.
  4. Add water and bring to a boil.
  5. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes to develop flavors.
  6. Add fish fillets, shrimp, clams, mussels, and squid. Cook for 5 minutes.
  7. Add tofu and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  8. Season with salt and red pepper flakes to taste.
  9. Serve hot in bowls, garnished with additional green onions.
