Leverpostej

Leverpostej is a traditional Danish liver pate that is rich, creamy, and full of flavor.

Ingredients

  • Nutmeg - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • All - purpose flour - 2 tablespoons
  • Eggs - 2
  • Milk - 1 cup
  • Bacon - 100g, diced
  • Butter - 100g
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Pork liver - 500g

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and diced bacon, and cook until the onion is soft and the bacon is crispy.
  3. Add the pork liver to the pan and cook until it is no longer pink in the center.
  4. Transfer the liver, onion, and bacon mixture to a food processor. Add the milk, eggs, flour, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Blend until smooth and creamy.
  5. Pour the liver mixture into a greased loaf pan or oven-safe dish.
  6. Bake for 45-60 minutes, or until the leverpostej is set and golden brown on top.
  7. Allow the leverpostej to cool slightly before serving. Serve with bread, pickles, and mustard.
