Käsekuchen

Käsekuchen is a traditional German cheesecake made with quark. It's light, creamy, and not overly sweet.

Ingredients

  • Lemon zest - 1 tablespoon
  • Baking powder - 2 teaspoons
  • All - purpose flour - 1 cup
  • Milk - 1/2 cup
  • Quark - 2 cups
  • Eggs - 4
  • Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
  • Sugar - 1 cup
  • Butter - 1/2 cup, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch springform pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the melted butter, sugar, and vanilla extract. Beat in the eggs one at a time.
  3. Mix in the quark and milk. Combine the flour and baking powder; mix into the batter along with the lemon zest.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  5. Bake for 60 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Let cool completely before removing from the pan.
