Jeyuk Bokkeum

Jeyuk Bokkeum is a popular Korean dish made with marinated pork stir-fried with vegetables and spicy sauce.

Ingredients

  • Toasted sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
  • Cooking oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Bell pepper - 1, thinly sliced
  • Carrot - 1 medium, julienned
  • Green onions - 4 stalks, chopped
  • Onion - 1 medium, thinly sliced
  • Ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
  • Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
  • Sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Gochujang (korean red pepper paste) - 3 tablespoons
  • Pork belly - 500 grams, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the gochujang, soy sauce, sugar, minced garlic, and grated ginger to make the marinade.
  2. Add the sliced pork belly to the marinade and mix well. Let it marinate for at least 10 minutes.
  3. Heat the cooking oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat.
  4. Add the marinated pork and stir-fry for about 5 minutes, until the pork is cooked through.
  5. Add the sliced onion, julienned carrot, and thinly sliced bell pepper to the pan. Stir-fry for another 3-4 minutes, until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
  6. Sprinkle toasted sesame seeds over the dish and garnish with chopped green onions.
  7. Serve hot with steamed rice.
