Gulab Jamun is a traditional Indian dessert known for its sweetness and soft texture. It's made from milk solids that are kneaded into a dough, shaped into balls, deep-fried, and finally soaked in a sugary syrup flavored with rose water and cardamom.

Ingredients

  • Vegetable oil - For deep frying
  • Rose water - 1 teaspoon
  • Cardamom powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Water - 2 cups
  • Sugar - 2 cups
  • Milk - 1/2 cup
  • Butter - 2 tablespoons, melted
  • Baking soda - 1/4 teaspoon
  • All - purpose flour - 2 tablespoons
  • Milk powder - 1 cup

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together the milk powder, flour, and baking soda.
  2. Add the melted butter to the dry mixture and mix well.
  3. Gradually add the milk and knead into a soft dough.
  4. Divide the dough into small portions and roll into smooth balls.
  5. Heat the oil in a deep pan and deep fry the balls until golden brown.
  6. In another pan, combine the sugar and water and bring to a boil.
  7. Add the cardamom powder and rose water to the sugar syrup.
  8. Add the fried balls to the syrup and let them soak for at least 2 hours before serving.
