Greek Gyros

Greek Gyros

A traditional Greek dish made with marinated meat, fresh vegetables, and tzatziki sauce, all wrapped up in a soft pita bread.

Ingredients

  • Tzatziki sauce - 1 cup
  • Red onion - 1, thinly sliced
  • Cucumbers - 1, sliced
  • Tomatoes - 2, sliced
  • Pita bread - 4 pieces
  • Salt and pepper - To taste
  • Oregano - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Lemon juice - 2 tablespoons
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Pork shoulder - 1 pound, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the pork, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper. Let it marinate for at least 1 hour.
  2. Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Add the pork and cook until it's browned and cooked through, about 5 minutes on each side.
  3. Warm the pita bread in the oven or on the grill for a few seconds until it's soft and pliable.
  4. To assemble the gyros, spread a spoonful of tzatziki sauce on each pita. Add the pork, tomatoes, cucumbers, and red onion. Fold the pita over the fillings, and your Greek Gyros are ready to serve.
