Croque Au Thon

Croque au Thon is a delicious French tuna melt sandwich made with tuna, cheese, and béchamel sauce.

Ingredients

  • Salt and pepper - To taste
  • Nutmeg - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Milk - 1 cup
  • All - purpose flour - 2 tablespoons
  • Butter - 2 tablespoons
  • Gruyere cheese - 4 slices
  • Bread slices - 4
  • Dijon mustard - 1 tablespoon
  • Mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons
  • Canned tuna - 1 can (5 oz)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the canned tuna, mayonnaise, and Dijon mustard until well combined.
  2. Spread the tuna mixture evenly on two bread slices.
  3. Top each slice with a slice of Gruyere cheese.
  4. Place the remaining two bread slices on top to make sandwiches.
  5. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  6. Add the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  7. Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth.
  8. Cook the béchamel sauce until thickened, about 5 minutes.
  9. Season the sauce with nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
  10. Preheat a pan or griddle over medium heat.
  11. Grill the sandwiches on both sides until golden and the cheese is melted.
  12. Serve the Croque au Thon sandwiches hot, topped with the béchamel sauce.
