Chicken Souvlaki

Chicken souvlaki is a delicious Greek dish made with marinated chicken skewers, served with pita bread and tzatziki sauce.

Ingredients

  • Cucumber - 1, sliced
  • Red onion - 1, thinly sliced
  • Tomatoes - 2, sliced
  • Tzatziki sauce - 1 cup
  • Pita bread - 4
  • Salt and pepper - To taste
  • Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Lemon juice - 2 tablespoons
  • Olive oil - 1/4 cup
  • Chicken breasts - 4, boneless and skinless

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, dried oregano, salt, and pepper to make the marinade.
  2. Cut the chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces and place them in the marinade. Toss to coat the chicken evenly. Let it marinate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for better flavor.
  3. Preheat the grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Thread the marinated chicken pieces onto skewers.
  5. Grill the chicken skewers for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are cooked through and slightly charred.
  6. While the chicken is grilling, warm the pita bread on the grill for a few seconds on each side.
  7. To serve, spread tzatziki sauce on the warmed pita bread. Top with grilled chicken skewers, sliced tomatoes, red onion, and cucumber.
  8. Fold the pita bread in half and enjoy your delicious chicken souvlaki!
