Greek Gyro Plate

This Greek gyro plate is a delicious combination of tender marinated meat, flavorful tzatziki sauce, and fresh vegetables.

Ingredients

  • Lettuce - 4 leaves
  • Cucumber - 1, sliced
  • Red onion - 1, thinly sliced
  • Tomatoes - 2, sliced
  • Tzatziki sauce - 1 cup
  • Pita bread - 4 pieces
  • Salt and pepper - To taste
  • Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Lemon juice - 2 tablespoons
  • Greek yogurt - 1 cup
  • Boneless lamb or chicken - 1 pound, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, lemon juice, minced garlic, olive oil, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  2. Add the sliced lamb or chicken to the marinade and toss to coat. Let it marinate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results.
  3. Heat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook the marinated meat for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until cooked through and slightly charred.
  4. Remove the meat from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes. Slice it into thin strips.
  5. Warm the pita bread on the grill or in a toaster.
  6. To assemble the gyro plate, spread a generous amount of tzatziki sauce on each pita bread.
  7. Top with the sliced meat, tomatoes, red onion, cucumber, and lettuce.
  8. Serve the Greek gyro plate with extra tzatziki sauce on the side.
  9. Enjoy!
