Chicken Parmesan Sandwich

This delicious chicken Parmesan sandwich is made with breaded chicken, marinara sauce, and melted cheese, served on a toasted bun.

Ingredients

  • Fresh basil - A few leaves
  • Buns - 2, toasted
  • Mozzarella cheese - 1/2 cup, shredded
  • Marinara sauce - 1/2 cup
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt and pepper - To taste
  • Italian seasoning - 1 teaspoon
  • Parmesan cheese - 1/2 cup, grated
  • Breadcrumbs - 1 cup
  • Egg - 1
  • Chicken breasts - 2 boneless, skinless

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  2. Pound the chicken breasts to an even thickness, then season with salt and pepper.
  3. In a shallow dish, beat the egg. In another shallow dish, combine the breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  4. Dip each chicken breast into the beaten egg, then coat with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
  5. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the breaded chicken breasts for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Transfer the cooked chicken breasts to a baking sheet. Top each breast with marinara sauce and shredded mozzarella cheese.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Place each chicken breast on a toasted bun and garnish with fresh basil leaves.
