Chicken Parmesan

This classic Italian dish features breaded chicken cutlets topped with marinara sauce and melted cheese.

Ingredients

  • Fresh basil - For garnish
  • Mozzarella cheese - 1 cup, shredded
  • Marinara sauce - 2 cups
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt and pepper - To taste
  • Italian seasoning - 1 teaspoon
  • Parmesan cheese - 1/2 cup, grated
  • Breadcrumbs - 1 cup
  • Eggs - 2
  • Chicken breasts - 4 boneless, skinless

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  2. In a shallow dish, beat the eggs with a fork.
  3. In another shallow dish, combine the breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  4. Dip each chicken breast into the beaten eggs, then coat with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
  5. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  6. Add the breaded chicken breasts and cook until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  7. Transfer the chicken breasts to a baking dish and top each with marinara sauce and shredded mozzarella cheese.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
