Cataplana de Marisco is a traditional Portuguese seafood dish. It's a flavorful combination of various seafood, cooked in a clam-shaped copper pan called a cataplana.

Ingredients

  • Parsley - For garnish
  • Salt and pepper - To taste
  • Mussels - 1 pound
  • Prawns - 1 pound
  • Clams - 1 pound
  • White wine - 1 cup
  • Tomatoes - 4, chopped
  • Green bell pepper - 1, chopped
  • Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
  • Onions - 2, chopped
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a cataplana or large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add the onions, garlic, and bell pepper and cook until softened.
  3. Add the tomatoes and cook until they break down and form a sauce.
  4. Pour in the white wine and bring to a simmer.
  5. Add the clams, prawns, and mussels. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Close the cataplana or cover the pot and let it cook for 15-20 minutes, or until the seafood is cooked and the shells have opened.
  7. Discard any shells that have not opened.
  8. Garnish with parsley and serve hot.
