Beef Braciole

Beef braciole is a classic Italian dish made with thinly sliced beef, filled with a flavorful stuffing, rolled up, and simmered in a rich tomato sauce.

Ingredients

  • Salt and pepper - To taste
  • Basil - 1/4 cup, chopped
  • Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
  • Red wine - 1/2 cup
  • Crushed tomatoes - 2 cups
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Onion - 1, finely chopped
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt and pepper - To taste
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Parmesan cheese - 1/4 cup, grated
  • Breadcrumbs - 1/2 cup
  • Beef round steak - 4 slices, thinly pounded

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, minced garlic, salt, and pepper.
  2. Lay the beef slices flat and evenly divide the breadcrumb mixture among them, spreading it over the surface of each slice.
  3. Roll up each slice tightly and secure with toothpicks or kitchen twine.
  4. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Brown the braciole on all sides, then remove from the skillet and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook until softened and fragrant.
  6. Add the crushed tomatoes, red wine, dried oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
  7. Return the braciole to the skillet, nestling them into the sauce. Cover and simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the beef is tender.
  8. Remove the toothpicks or twine from the braciole before serving.
  9. Serve the beef braciole with the tomato sauce and enjoy!
