Shrimp and Grits Mac and Cheese
A southern classic meets comfort food favorite. This Shrimp and Grits Mac and Cheese is creamy, cheesy, and filled with tender shrimp and smoky bacon.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Macaroni - 2 cups, cooked
- Cheddar cheese - 2 cups, shredded
- Grits - 1 cup
- Milk - 2 cups
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Bacon - 4 slices, chopped
- Shrimp - 1 pound, peeled and deveined
Let's Get Started
- Cook the bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crispy. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the shrimp and cook until pink, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- Add the garlic to the skillet and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- In a large pot, bring the milk to a boil. Stir in the grits and reduce heat to low. Cook, stirring frequently, until the grits are creamy, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the cheddar cheese until melted and smooth.
- Add the cooked macaroni, shrimp, and bacon to the pot and stir until well combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve the mac and cheese hot, garnished with extra shredded cheese if desired.
