Orange and Sage Roasted Turkey
This succulent roasted turkey is infused with the flavors of orange and sage, resulting in a delicious and aromatic main course.
Ingredients - Serves 8
- Paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Onion powder - 1 teaspoon
- Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 2 teaspoons
- Butter - 1/2 cup, softened
- Fresh sage leaves - 10 leaves
- Oranges - 2, sliced
- Whole turkey - 12 pounds
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Rinse the turkey inside and out, then pat dry with paper towels.
- Place the sliced oranges and sage leaves inside the turkey cavity.
- In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
- Rub the butter mixture all over the turkey, including under the skin.
- Place the turkey on a rack in a roasting pan, breast side up.
- Cover the turkey loosely with aluminum foil.
- Roast the turkey in the preheated oven for 3 to 3 1/2 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C) in the thickest part of the thigh.
- Remove the foil during the last 30 minutes of cooking to allow the skin to brown.
- Once cooked, transfer the turkey to a serving platter and let it rest for 20 minutes before carving.
