Mostaccioli, also known as penne, is a delicious pasta dish with a robust meat sauce and melted cheese.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Grated parmesan cheese - 1/2 cup
- Mozzarella cheese - 2 cups, shredded
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Dried basil leaves - 1 teaspoon
- Tomato sauce - 2 cans (15 ounces each)
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1, chopped
- Ground beef - 1 pound
- Mostaccioli pasta - 1 pound
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Cook the pasta according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until the beef is no longer pink. Drain the fat.
- Stir in the tomato sauce, basil, and salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
- In a large baking dish, layer half of the pasta, half of the meat sauce, and half of the mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers.
- Sprinkle the top with the Parmesan cheese.
- Bake for 30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
