Linzer Torte
Linzer Torte is a traditional Austrian dessert. It's a tart made of a rich, buttery dough accentuated by almonds, filled with raspberry jam, and topped with a lattice crust.
Ingredients - Serves 8
- Raspberry jam - 3/4 cup
- Ground cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
- Grated lemon zest - 1 teaspoon
- Egg yolks - 2
- Granulated sugar - 2/3 cup
- Unsalted butter - 1 cup, softened
- Ground almonds - 1/2 cup
- All-purpose flour - 1 1/2 cups
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch tart pan.
- In a medium bowl, combine the flour and ground almonds.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg yolks, lemon zest, and cinnamon. Gradually blend in the flour mixture, mixing just until the dough comes together.
- Press half of the dough into the bottom of the prepared pan. Spread the jam over this layer. Roll out the remaining dough and cut into strips, arranging in a lattice pattern over the jam layer.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until the crust is golden. Let cool before slicing and serving.
