Gratin de Chou Fleur
This delicious gratin de chou-fleur is a classic French dish made with cauliflower, creamy béchamel sauce, and melted cheese.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Nutmeg - 1/4 teaspoon
- Parmesan cheese - 1/2 cup, grated
- Gruyere cheese - 1 cup, grated
- Milk - 2 cups
- All-purpose flour - 3 tablespoons
- Butter - 3 tablespoons
- Cauliflower - 1 large head, cut into florets
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- Steam the cauliflower florets until tender, about 5-7 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Gradually whisk in the milk and continue cooking until the sauce thickens, about 5 minutes.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the grated Gruyere cheese and nutmeg. Season with salt and pepper.
- Place the steamed cauliflower in a baking dish and pour the cheese sauce over it. Mix well to coat the cauliflower evenly.
- Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the gratin is golden and bubbly.
- Serve hot as a side dish.
