Donburi
Donburi is a traditional Japanese rice bowl dish topped with various ingredients and served with a savory sauce.
Ingredients - Serves 2
- Nori seaweed - 2 sheets, cut into strips
- Eggs - 2
- Sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Mirin - 1 tablespoon
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Green onions - 2, chopped
- Carrot - 1, julienned
- Onion - 1, thinly sliced
- Chicken breast - 1, thinly sliced
- Cooked rice - 2 cups
Let's Get Started
- In a large skillet, heat some oil over medium heat.
- Add the chicken breast and cook until browned and cooked through.
- Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the onion and carrot. Cook until softened.
- Add the cooked chicken back to the skillet.
- In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, mirin, and sugar. Pour the sauce over the chicken and vegetables. Cook for a few minutes until the sauce thickens.
- In a separate pan, fry the eggs sunny-side up.
- To serve, divide the cooked rice into bowls. Top with the chicken and vegetable mixture. Place a fried egg on top of each bowl.
- Garnish with chopped green onions and nori seaweed strips.
