Carob Cake
A delicious and healthy alternative to chocolate cake, this carob cake is moist, rich, and perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients - Serves 8
- Water - 1 cup
- Eggs - 2
- Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- Honey - 1/2 cup
- Unsweetened applesauce - 1 cup
- Cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Baking soda - 1/2 teaspoon
- Baking powder - 1 teaspoon
- Whole wheat flour - 2 cups
- Carob powder - 1 cup
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a cake pan.
- In a large bowl, combine the carob powder, flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
- In another bowl, mix together the applesauce, honey, vanilla extract, and eggs.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the water, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
- Bake for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
