Let's Get Started

  1. In a glass jar, combine the dried birch bark and vodka.
  2. Seal the jar tightly and let it steep for 2 weeks in a cool, dark place.
  3. After 2 weeks, strain the infused vodka through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth to remove the birch bark.
  4. In a saucepan, combine the infused vodka, sugar, cinnamon stick, cloves, and orange peel.
  5. Heat the mixture over low heat, stirring until the sugar has dissolved.
  6. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool completely.
  7. Once cooled, strain the liqueur to remove the spices and orange peel.
  8. Transfer the birch liqueur to a clean bottle or jar.
  9. Store in a cool, dark place for at least 1 week to allow the flavors to meld.
  10. Serve chilled or use in cocktails.
