Banana Cream Tart
This delicious banana cream tart features a buttery crust, creamy banana filling, and a fluffy whipped cream topping.
Ingredients - Serves 8
- Chocolate shavings - For garnish
- Whipped cream - 1 cup
- Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- Milk - 2 cups
- Cornstarch - 1/4 cup
- Sugar - 1/2 cup
- Bananas - 3 ripe, sliced
- Butter - 1/2 cup, melted
- Crust - 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs and melted butter. Press the mixture into the bottom and sides of a tart pan.
- Bake the crust for 10 minutes, then remove from the oven and let it cool completely.
- In a saucepan, combine the sugar and cornstarch. Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth.
- Cook the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens and comes to a boil.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Place the sliced bananas on top of the cooled crust.
- Pour the hot milk mixture over the bananas, spreading it evenly.
- Let the tart cool for about 30 minutes, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours to set.
- Before serving, spread whipped cream over the top of the tart and garnish with chocolate shavings.
- Slice and serve chilled.
