Swiss Chard and Potato Gratin

This delicious Swiss chard and potato gratin is a comforting and flavorful side dish that pairs well with any main course.

Ingredients

  • Salt and pepper - To taste
  • Butter - 2 tablespoons
  • Heavy cream - 1 cup
  • Parmesan cheese - 1/2 cup, grated
  • Gruyere cheese - 1 cup, grated
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Onion - 1 large, thinly sliced
  • Potatoes - 4 medium, peeled and thinly sliced
  • Swiss chard - 1 bunch, stems removed and leaves chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, and cook until softened.
  3. Add the Swiss chard leaves and cook until wilted, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes. Top with half of the Swiss chard mixture and half of the grated Gruyere cheese.
  5. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, Swiss chard, and Gruyere cheese.
  6. Pour the heavy cream over the layers, making sure to evenly distribute it.
  7. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and sprinkle the Parmesan cheese over the top. Bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is golden and bubbly.
  9. Let the gratin cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
