Spaghetti and Meatballs

Classic spaghetti and meatballs in a rich tomato sauce.

Ingredients

  • Salt and pepper - To taste
  • Basil - 1 tablespoon, chopped
  • Tomato sauce - 2 cups
  • Onion - 1, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Egg - 1
  • Parmesan cheese - 1/2 cup, grated
  • Breadcrumbs - 1/2 cup
  • Ground beef - 1 pound
  • Spaghetti - 1 pound

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, egg, garlic, and half of the chopped onion. Season with salt and pepper.
  2. Form the mixture into meatballs and set aside.
  3. In a large pot, heat some oil over medium heat. Add the remaining onion and cook until soft.
  4. Add the tomato sauce and basil to the pot and bring to a simmer.
  5. Add the meatballs to the sauce and simmer for 30 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through.
  6. While the meatballs are cooking, cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions.
  7. Drain the spaghetti and serve topped with the meatballs and sauce.
