Spaghetti

A delicious and hearty Italian dish, spaghetti bolognese is made with a rich tomato-based sauce and served over spaghetti noodles.

Ingredients

  • Fresh basil leaves - For garnish
  • Parmesan cheese - 1/2 cup, grated
  • Salt and pepper - To taste
  • Dried basil - 1 teaspoon
  • Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
  • Red wine - 1/2 cup
  • Canned crushed tomatoes - 1 can (28 ounces)
  • Tomato paste - 2 tablespoons
  • Celery - 1 stalk, finely chopped
  • Carrot - 1, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Onion - 1, finely chopped
  • Ground beef - 1 pound
  • Spaghetti noodles - 1 pound

Instructions

  1. Cook the spaghetti noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, carrot, and celery to the skillet. Cook until the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in the tomato paste and cook for 1 minute.
  5. Add the canned crushed tomatoes, red wine, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and let cook for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed.
  7. Serve the spaghetti noodles topped with the bolognese sauce.
  8. Garnish with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves.
