This unique and flavorful coffee recipe combines the rich taste of spiced coffee with the comforting texture of homemade spätzle.

Ingredients

  • Butter - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • All - purpose flour - 1 cup
  • Egg - 1
  • Milk - 1 cup
  • Allspice - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Cloves - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Nutmeg - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Ground coffee - 2 tablespoons

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix together the ground coffee, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and allspice.
  2. Brew the spiced coffee using your preferred method.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and egg.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt.
  5. Gradually pour the milk and egg mixture into the flour mixture, stirring until well combined.
  6. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  7. Using a spätzle maker or a colander with large holes, press the dough through the holes into the boiling water. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the spätzle floats to the surface.
  8. Remove the cooked spätzle from the water using a slotted spoon and transfer to a colander to drain.
  9. In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the cooked spätzle and sauté for 2-3 minutes, or until lightly browned.
  10. Pour the spiced coffee into mugs and serve with a generous portion of sautéed spätzle on top.
