Shahi Tukda

Shahi Tukda is a rich and indulgent Indian dessert made with fried bread slices soaked in saffron-infused milk and garnished with nuts and silver leaf.

Ingredients

  • Silver leaf (optional) - For garnish
  • Almonds - 2 tablespoons, sliced
  • Pistachios - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Cardamom powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Saffron strands - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Sugar - 1/2 cup
  • Milk - 2 cups
  • Ghee - 4 tablespoons
  • Bread slices - 4

Instructions

  1. Heat ghee in a pan and fry the bread slices until golden brown on both sides.
  2. In a separate pan, heat milk and add saffron strands. Let it simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. Add sugar and cardamom powder to the milk and stir until the sugar dissolves.
  4. Dip the fried bread slices in the saffron-infused milk and let them soak for a few minutes.
  5. Transfer the soaked bread slices to a serving plate.
  6. Garnish with chopped pistachios, sliced almonds, and silver leaf (if using).
  7. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the flavors to meld together.
  8. Serve chilled and enjoy the rich and creamy Shahi Tukda!
