Pyongyangeonban

Pyongyang Eonban is a traditional North Korean dish made with stir-fried meat and vegetables served over rice noodles.

Ingredients

  • Toasted sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
  • Green onions - 2 stalks, chopped
  • Rice noodles - 200 grams, cooked according to package instructions
  • Sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Onion - 1 large, thinly sliced
  • Cabbage - 1/2 small head, thinly sliced
  • Carrots - 2 medium, julienned
  • Beef - 300 grams, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. In a large pan or wok, heat the sesame oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the beef and stir-fry until browned. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, add the carrots, cabbage, onion, and garlic. Stir-fry until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
  4. Return the beef to the pan and add the soy sauce and sugar. Stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes.
  5. Divide the cooked rice noodles among serving bowls.
  6. Top the rice noodles with the stir-fried beef and vegetables.
  7. Garnish with chopped green onions and toasted sesame seeds.
  8. Serve hot and enjoy!
