Pyongyang Onban

Pyongyang Onban is a traditional North Korean dish made with rice, vegetables, and meat.

Ingredients

  • Green onions - 2, chopped
  • Black pepper - To taste
  • Salt - To taste
  • Sesame oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Onion - 1, thinly sliced
  • Cabbage - 1/2 head, thinly sliced
  • Carrots - 2, julienned
  • Beef - 1 pound, thinly sliced
  • Short - grain rice - 2 cups

Instructions

  1. Cook the rice according to package instructions.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the sesame oil over medium heat.
  3. Add the beef and cook until browned.
  4. Add the carrots, cabbage, onion, and garlic. Cook until the vegetables are tender.
  5. Add the cooked rice to the skillet and mix well.
  6. Season with soy sauce, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine.
  7. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, or until heated through.
  8. Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
