Peach Pie

This delicious peach pie is made with fresh peaches and a flaky homemade crust.

Ingredients

  • Turbinado sugar - 1 tablespoon (for sprinkling)
  • Egg - 1, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
  • Cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • All - purpose flour - 1/4 cup
  • Granulated sugar - 3/4 cup
  • Fresh peaches - 6 cups, peeled and sliced
  • Pie crust - 2 (9-inch) crusts

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Place one pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the sliced peaches, granulated sugar, flour, lemon juice, cinnamon, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
  4. Pour the peach mixture into the pie crust.
  5. Cover the pie with the second pie crust. Trim any excess dough and crimp the edges to seal.
  6. Cut slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
  7. Brush the top crust with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
  8. Sprinkle the turbinado sugar over the top crust.
  9. Place the pie on a baking sheet to catch any drips.
  10. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  11. Remove from the oven and let cool before serving.
