Mutton Curry

This flavorful mutton curry is made with tender pieces of mutton cooked in a rich and aromatic curry sauce.

Ingredients

  • Fresh coriander leaves - For garnish
  • Oil - 3 tablespoons
  • Salt - To taste
  • Garam masala - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 tablespoon
  • Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Yogurt - 1/4 cup
  • Green chilies - 2, slit
  • Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1-inch piece, grated
  • Tomatoes - 2 medium, pureed
  • Onions - 2 medium, finely chopped
  • Mutton - 500 grams, cut into pieces

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onions and cook until golden brown.
  3. Add the grated ginger, minced garlic, and slit green chilies. Cook for 2 minutes.
  4. Add the mutton pieces and cook until browned on all sides.
  5. In a bowl, whisk together the yogurt, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and salt.
  6. Add the yogurt mixture to the pot and mix well to coat the mutton.
  7. Cook for 5 minutes, then add the tomato puree and mix well.
  8. Cover the pot and simmer for 1 hour, or until the mutton is tender and cooked through.
  9. Sprinkle garam masala over the curry and mix well.
  10. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
  11. Serve hot with rice or naan bread.
