Khao Niew Mamuang

A traditional Thai dessert known for its sweet sticky rice and fresh mango slices. It's a perfect balance of flavors and textures.

Ingredients

  • Toasted sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Sugar - 1/2 cup
  • Coconut milk - 1 cup
  • Ripe mangoes - 2, peeled and sliced
  • Sticky rice - 1 cup

Instructions

  1. Rinse the sticky rice until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  2. Drain the rice and steam it for 15-20 minutes until it's cooked.
  3. While the rice is cooking, heat the coconut milk in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the sugar and salt and stir until they're dissolved.
  4. Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a bowl and pour the coconut milk mixture over it. Stir well and let it sit for about 20 minutes to absorb the coconut milk.
  5. Serve the sticky rice with fresh mango slices on the side. Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds before serving.
