Crab Mac and Cheese

This rich and creamy crab mac and cheese is a decadent twist on a comfort food classic.

Ingredients

  • Panko breadcrumbs - 1/2 cup
  • Salt and pepper - To taste
  • Crab meat - 1 cup
  • Gruyere cheese - 1 cup, shredded
  • Sharp cheddar cheese - 2 cups, shredded
  • Milk - 2 cups
  • All - purpose flour - 2 tablespoons
  • Butter - 4 tablespoons
  • Elbow macaroni - 2 cups

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  2. Cook the macaroni according to the package instructions, then drain and set aside.
  3. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour to make a roux.
  4. Gradually whisk in the milk, then bring to a simmer. Cook for 5 minutes, or until thickened.
  5. Remove from the heat and stir in the cheddar and Gruyere until melted. Stir in the crab meat, then season with salt and pepper.
  6. Combine the cooked macaroni and cheese sauce, then transfer to a baking dish.
  7. Sprinkle the breadcrumbs over the top.
  8. Bake for 15 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
