Caramelized Onion and Gruyere Omelette

This delicious omelette is filled with sweet caramelized onions and melted gruyere cheese.

Ingredients

  • Black pepper - To taste
  • Salt - To taste
  • Gruyere cheese - 1/2 cup, grated
  • Milk - 2 tablespoons
  • Eggs - 4
  • Butter - 2 tablespoons
  • Onion - 1 large, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until caramelized and golden brown, about 15 minutes. Set aside.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter in the same skillet over medium heat.
  5. Pour the egg mixture into the skillet and let it cook undisturbed for a few minutes until the edges start to set.
  6. Using a spatula, gently lift the edges of the omelette and tilt the skillet to allow the uncooked eggs to flow to the edges.
  7. Sprinkle the caramelized onions and grated gruyere cheese over one half of the omelette.
  8. Fold the other half of the omelette over the filling and cook for another minute to melt the cheese.
  9. Slide the omelette onto a plate and serve hot.
