Vitamalz
Vitamalz is a popular non-alcoholic, malt beer (Malzbier) in Germany. It's sweet, full-bodied, and nutritious. This recipe will guide you on how to make homemade Vitamalz.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Carbonation drops - 4
- Water - 4 cups
- Brown sugar - 1/2 cup
- Malt extract - 1 cup
Let's Get Started
- In a large pot, combine the malt extract and brown sugar with 1 cup of water. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- Remove the pot from the heat and let it cool to room temperature.
- Once cooled, add the remaining water and stir well.
- Pour the mixture into four separate bottles, each equipped with a carbonation drop.
- Seal the bottles and let them sit at room temperature for about a week to allow for carbonation.
- After a week, check the carbonation by opening one bottle. If it's fizzy, your homemade Vitamalz is ready to enjoy. If not, let it sit for a few more days and check again.
- Once carbonated, store the Vitamalz in the refrigerator. Serve chilled.
