Thali
A traditional Indian thali (platter) with various dishes including rice, dal, vegetables, roti, salad, curd, and sweet dish.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Spices - As per taste
- Ghee - 4 tablespoons
- Mixed salad - 2 cups
- Curd - 1 cup
- Wheat flour - 2 cups
- Mixed vegetables - 2 cups
- Toor dal - 1 cup
- Basmati rice - 1 cup
Let's Get Started
- Cook the basmati rice in a rice cooker or on the stove top until it's fluffy and cooked through.
- Boil the toor dal in a pressure cooker until it's soft and mushy. Season it with salt, turmeric, and a tadka of ghee, cumin seeds, and asafoetida.
- Chop the mixed vegetables and cook them in a pan with some ghee, salt, and your choice of spices until they're soft and cooked through.
- Make a soft dough with the wheat flour and some water. Roll out small circles and cook them on a hot tawa with some ghee until they're golden brown and puffed up.
- Serve the cooked rice, dal, vegetables, and roti on a thali. Add a serving of curd and mixed salad on the side.
- Finish off with a sweet dish of your choice.
